Despina (Lakios) Katsaros left this Earth on Friday, November 14, 2025, with her family by her side. Despina "Des" was born May 1, 1931, in McKeesport,  Pennsylvania. Her early years were spent in Pennsylvania, and then Ikaria during the Great Depression. Upon the family's return to America, they lived in Plant City and Bradenton, Florida.

In the late 1940s, the family relocated to Alhambra, California. Des met the love of her life, Peter Katsaros, while they were in high school. They married September 9, 1956 and were always by each others side for their sixty-nine years as husband and wife. She dedicated her life to her husband and children, Leona "Linda" and Emmanuel "Mike". Des loved to cook, host dinner parties, go on long scenic drives, and spend time with family. She was known for her hospitality and warm conversation.

Des is preceded in death by her parents, Sophia and Xenophon, and her brother, Gus Lukios. She is survived by her husband Peter, daughter Linda (Timothy), son Mike (Susan), granddaughters Melissa (John), Stephanie (Taylor), and Christina, as well as two great grandchildren Eli and McKenna.

The Trisagion will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 and the funeral at at 11 a.m. with both services being held at Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, 778 S. Rosemead Blvd., Pasadena, California 91107.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Foothill Family Shelter  or the Alzheimer's Association.

Our wife, mother, yiayia and proyiyia will be greatly missed, but her warmth, kindness and gentle spirit will be remembered forever. May her memory be eternal.
