Donald William Smith, 38, passed away on July 16, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. Donnie created happy, joyful, comedic love growing up. He was quick and witty with love and humor to make us smile, and always able to absorb knowledge effortlessly. After attending Vandalia Butler High School, Donnie scored in the upper 90s on his ASVAB and chose to join the Marine Corps. He received his Chemical Biological Weapons Specialist Certification and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. Donnie served a long tour in Afghanistan and then returned to work in North Carolina before being discharged to civilian life. Donnie moved to Los Angeles and became a carefree soul that lived life daily for his happiness. He enjoyed life and continuously tried to make things better until the sad day of July 16th. He is preceded in death by his mother Kathy McCune in 2016. He is survived and will continue to be loved and remembered by his father Neal Smith, grandmother Joan Ste. Marie, sister Lainie Smith, brother Alex Smith (Cortney), and nieces Lily and Bella Smith, along with multiple great-aunts, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

His memorial service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 1:00pm in the mausoleum chapel of Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum, 118 Woodland Avenue, Dayton, OH 45409.
