Louis Carlos
Maya
April 21, 1943 – November 12, 2021
Louis Carlos Maya, 78, of Los Angeles, gained his wings on November 12, 2021 in Seal Beach, California. He passed away peacefully among the love of our heavenly father and in the hearts of all those he loved.
Louis was born on April 21, 1943 to Frank and Maria Maya. He was part of a family of five including his brother Fernando and his sister Jana. He attended Garfield High School in East Los Angeles and graduated in 1961. Garfield is where he excelled in math and gained the admiration of the ladies for his handsome appearance and captivating charm. His gorgeous black hair earned him the nickname "Shaggy" and that stuck with him throughout highschool. He loved music and tried relentlessly to play the guitar, but alas he just "could not find one that played well".
On February 9, 1963 he married his soulmate Ann Zavala. There is no denying that Ann was his other half. They were blissfully married for 58 years and will always be a vision of what true love is. They raised 3 beautiful daughters together, Dina, Lisa, and Kris. The girls were Louis' pride and joy and he was always largely present in their day to day lives. Helping people and spreading his positive attitude helped Louis to be successful in his career as a Service Manager, but it was cut short when he became ill in the early 90s. He was a hard-working man and a great provider for his family.
As his girls began to grow, they started to refer to their Dad as a superhero. Even now as adults they still see him that way. He was always there when they needed a helping hand, a kind word, or just the love of a father. He was there to cheer the accomplishments and to console in their defeats. He never let them down and he taught them to always enjoy every moment of their lives by being the example they needed. When the girls decided on their partners Louis was more than happy to add to his family. Shane, Larry, and Neil were very dear to his heart. He considered them as his own and spent a lot of time bonding with them, laughing with them, and leaning on them. He was so thankful for their love of his daughters, and appreciated their friendship, and as his health declined, how they cared for him.
In 1990 Louis was blessed with 2 grandchildren, Michael and Amber, he loved them endlessly and spoiled them every chance he got. In 1999 he was blessed again with a grandson, AJ and without a pause he added him to the list of loves he could endlessly spoil. Although his cup was full at this point, he was once again blessed with a great granddaughter, Bella Martin on October 9, 2015 and now his cup runneth over! He had quickly became a very hands on grandfather. He would spend quality time with them, teaching them, guiding them, loving them. He made them waffles so good they will forever be telling stories of them to anyone who will listen. He was always available to lend an ear when they needed to voice their frustrations or fears, or to give advice when they needed some. He was a wonderful father, but when it came to being a grandfather, he was off the charts.
Louis loved to fish and would enjoy his time just relaxing by his pole at the water's edge with so many of his long time friends chatting it up. He always had to know the time, so he always had to have a watch. He was fascinated with flashlights and had a plethora, if you needed one, he had one to give. He spent many hours volunteering at the Freedom Bible Church in Anaheim and loved giving back to the community. He also sincerely loved animals, especially dogs and cats. They all loved him right back, he was just such a gentle soul, they knew they could always come to him for a little love.
Louis is preceded in death by his brother Fernando and his parents Frank and Maria.
He is survived by his wonderful wife Ann, his sister Jana, his daughters and son-in-laws Dina & Shane, Lisa & Larry, and Kris & Neil, grandchildren Amber, Michael, and AJ, and his gorgeous great granddaughter Bella. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and forever remembered for all he has given in this life.
