Ruth Evelyn Gomer entered eternal life on Sunday, August 22, 2021 peacefully in her sleep. Her spirit is carried on by her husband, Robert Gomer, her three children, Robin Hicken, Kim Blake, and Ronnie Gomer, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one surviving brother, Kurt Mauerman.

We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Ruth during her almost 86 years of life. You can never have enough purses or salt and pepper shakers or bears or friends. Serve others with Christlike love. Always carry lipstick. Never say mean things about anyone. Carry candy in your purse for your grandkids. Always bring a gift when visiting others. Put all the unmarried grandchildren at the kids table during Thanksgiving. The past few years she took on her mother's mantra, "Never get old!" Always compliment others. Shop at Ross. Eat a McRib. Make everyone you meet feel special. Send cards for every birthday and keep cards from every birthday. It's perfectly normal to have two closets full of clothes. Always say yes to diamonds or sapphires from your husband. Black is always slimming. It's never too cold to wear sandals but make sure you've had a pedicure. Make German food for every Christmas Eve dinner. Celebrate your ancestry. Always try the dessert before everyone else... you have to make sure it tastes just right. Be a loyal friend. Listen to others' problems. Always support your family. Have faith. Love God. No matter the job, however mundane, thankless, or small, do your best.

Ruth Gomer touched so many lives and was truly an elect lady of our Heavenly Father. Her faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, was unwavering as well as her testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ruth loved her husband dearly and would always worry about him even when she was the one that needed the worrying. She taught her children to serve faithfully and was always there for them through thick and thin. She would do anything and everything for her family and friends. She truly had a heart of gold.

We are so incredibly sad she had to leave this life so abruptly but we are overjoyed that she is reunited with her beloved parents, Otto and Lucia, her sweet older brother Ralph, her sons-in-law, James Blake and Michael Hicken, and many other friends and family.
