Ted Tadao Watanabe was born in Marysville, CA the second of four sons of Matsuko and Tadaichi Watanabe. He was preceded in death by his brothers and their wives: Walter (Yoshiko), Kimihiro (Grace), and Fujimu aka Louie (Shiz). After his internment in the Granada ("Amache") Relocation Center in Colorado, he worked for over 30 years for Ford dealerships in San Jose and Los Gatos. Originally from a farming family, he took great pleasure in cultivating his annual vegetable garden and worked as a gardener on weekends. He was also an avid fisherman and was a commercial fisherman briefly after retiring from Ford. He outlived two wives (Liz, 1927-1975 and Nobu, 1930-2016) and is survived by children Jerry, Bob, and Nancy; grandchildren Jared, Aron (Jenny), and Kirsten (Paul); great-grandchildren Tyler and Trevor; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to the service that will be held at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his home away from home Americana Senior Day Services through their charitable organization: National Caregiver Resource Foundation Corp.
