Theodore Peter
Theodore
July 31, 1927 – April 21, 2021
Theodore Peter Theodore fell asleep in the Lord on April 21, 2021 at his home in Winnetka, California. He was 93 years old, but in his words made it to 94.
Ted was born July 31, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Peter and Venus Theodore. Due to asthma his family moved from Chicago to Tucson, Arizona. His family moved again when he was a teenager. This time to the San Fernando Valley. Ted's first job was actually an unpaid position to gain knowledge at an Auto Shop. After proving himself to be an exceptional worker the owner offered him a paid position. His next job as a movie theatre usher allowed him to master the skill of loudly snapping his fingers. As World War II started Ted was ready to serve his country however, due to his asthma and flat feet he was denied the opportunity. Ted's intelligence and outstanding work ethics lead him to the famed "Flying Tigers" where he worked on aircraft. From there he took his knowledge to Bendix and fabricated sheet metal. Ted's final employer was Litton. For 30 years he worked in the prototype engineering department. Here he would help create the first ICBM and mobile communication devices.
From a young age Ted had a passion for cars and driving. Porsches and MGs were his go to cars. He enjoyed taking drives up the coast or just to his favorite In-N-Out Burger. He spent family vacations with his wife and children driving across the United States. A favorite destination was driving to Vermont with his wife Bess. Ted was always willing to drive family or friends to any appointment or just to lunch or dinner.
Ted was preceded in death by his loving wife Bess, his parents, sister Mary and brother Steve. Survived by daughter Paula Roe (Bruce), daughter Melissa Kornblatt (Dave), son Peter (Teri) and son Dean (Sue). Grandchildren Christopher, Kiki, Adam, Annie, Theodore, Zachary, Andrew and Matthew.
His family meant everything to him. It gave Ted and Bess great pleasure over the years hosting summer vacations in Lake Tahoe for their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his family and friends out to restaurants and going to his children's homes for dinner.
He was witty and creative, always looking for ways to devise a more efficient way of doing things or by tweaking that special occasion card to personalize it in just the right way.
Ted was an extraordinarily humble man. His generosity and kindness overflowed to his family, friends and Church. His kind heart, humility and inspiration will be remembered by all that loved and knew him.
The funeral will be at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Camarillo on May 4, 2021 at 10:00am.
