Troy Philip
Richardson
August 14, 1964 – January 12, 2023
It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Troy Philip Richardson (58), January 12, 2023.
A handsome, blond-haired boy, Troy was born in West Covina, CA on August 14, 1964, to Ted Earl Richardson and JoAnn Tripp. Troy spent his elementary and high school years in Huntington Beach, California. He was a great lover of all sports but discovered his talents on the baseball and football teams he played on. Troy was a member of the Edison High School football team where he was a part of two undefeated varsity teams that went on to win back-to-back CIF Championships, and a state championship. Troy then went on to, none other than, the school of his childhood dreams, USC, where he was the star punter that helped his team beat Ohio State in the 1985 Rose Bowl.
Troy was a very proud Trojan, and also served as president of the Delta Chi fraternity. In 2015, he initiated an annual Super Bowl weekend with his fraternity brothers and their spouses, that will continue in his honor.
Troy met his wife, Rebecca Kotara, in 2000 while Troy lived on the Big Island of Hawaii and worked at the Hilton Waikoloa Village as National Sales Director and Rebecca worked for a corporate site selection company in Newport Beach, CA booking corporate groups to the islands of Hawaii. They were married on the island of Maui in 2001. Soon after, Troy and Rebecca started their own successful corporate meeting and incentive company, Pacific Partners, where they produced and attended many group trips to places like Las Vegas, Hawaii, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Germany, and various cruises. They lived on the Big Island, Maui and Kauai but spent most of their married life in the Palm Springs area.
Troy loved fishing and golfing with friends in Palm Springs and would often bring a small fishing pole on the golf course and fish for bass. He loved his annual family fishing trip to Rockport with his in-laws. He always enjoyed a good backyard barbeque where he made his famous ribs for friends and family. He was a bright light in any room and loved by so many.
Troy served faithfully at Victory Christian Church for several years where he was head of various special group projects.
Troy was Papa to his stepdaughter Jennifer and grand-daughter, June.
Troy was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Tripp Richardson, his sister Ronda Richardson Mixon, his mother-in-law, Frances Josephine Kotara, and father-in-law, Wency Ambrose Kotara. Troy is survived by his father, Ted Earl Richardson (88), his wife, Rebecca Richardson, his sister Doreen (Dan) Webster, stepdaughter Jennifer Lynn Riley and grand-daughter June Riley Riebsomer.
Troy's wish was to be cremated with his ashes dispersed on the 50-yard line of the Rose Bowl Stadium and also at Baby Beach on Maui where he enjoyed long walks with Rebecca while playing with their Labrador Amy.
