DONALD GRIFFITH BULLARD, SR, passed away with peace and comfort on June 23, 2016 at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital at age 81.
Donald was born on January 25, 1935 in Bell, CA to Elijah and Lucy Bullard. He grew up in Bell along with his older sister Ruth.
He graduated Bell High school and went on to further his education at BYU in Provo, Utah.
He was a devout member of the Mormon Church and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Central Atlantic States.
He met the love of his life at a church dance and they were married on April 18, 1964.
In 1976, Don and Lois moved to Cerritos, California and raised their four sons and one daughter.
Don started his career by graduating from Barber College and opening four barber shops with his father. When everyone started growing their hair out in the 60's, he needed to find a new occupation and opened up B&B auto sales with his cousin. After realizing that honesty and used car sales did not mix, he opened Southern California Valve in 1972. This company made him a world traveler spending plenty of time in Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. He spent the rest of his life running this business along with all of his children.
Besides being a hard worker, he liked to play hard. He looked forward to family summer vacations to Bass Lake to race his boat, winter ski vacations at Mammoth, and riding ATVs at Glamis.
He was a generous, loving, and spiritual man who was passionate about his family, missionary work and chocolate cake with lots of nuts.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Bullard, his sister, Ruth Hansen, his four sons, Donald Bullard Jr., Adam (Shannon) Bullard, Matthew (April) Bullard, James "JJ"(Kacey) Bullard , his daughter Aimee (Torey) Purser and his 12 grandchildren, Tiffany Bullard, Gregory Bullard, Jacob Bullard, Abby Bullard, Amanda Bullard, Michael Bullard, Sarah Bullard, Easton Bullard, Parker Bullard, Ivy Bullard, Britney Mathis and Dylan Mathis.
Services for Donald will be held on Thursday June 30, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 17909 Bloomfield Ave., Cerritos, CA 90703 with a viewing at 10:00 and funeral at 11:00
