Obituary

We are here to honor the Life of Linda Jean Aldrich, 57 years old, who passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 21st 2016.

Linda was born September 2nd, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina to Irving and Dimitroula Aldrich. She was a Southern Belle who grew up in Corinth, a quaint little village in Saratoga County, Upstate New York. One of Linda's most teachable memories was walking home from Corinth High School with powder snow up to her knees. Thanks to the challenging walks to her home, Linda was conditioned into a great athlete during her preparatory years in various sports including volleyball, basketball, tennis, and cheerleading. Her efforts were recognized in the local newspaper for her outstanding performances in volleyball.
At a young age, Linda understood love and family support were important values in her upbringing. She showed this by being a great fan and supporting her older brother when he excelled in wrestling. Tragically her beloved brother lost his battle to Cancer at the young age of 22. This took a huge toll on the family, starting another chapter in Linda's life.
With her mother by her side, Linda had the opportunity to explore the world. These two would go on to live in Florida, Las Vegas, Nevada, Madrid, Spain, just to name a few. They became partners in crime, inseparable with nicknames of "Charlie & George." Linda being "George" and her mother "Charlie." This bond could never be broken. Just like "Thelma & Louis."
Madrid, Spain became a very special place in Linda's heart. It is most important because it is where her two children were born. Vanessa and Sophia, the two girls which she sacrificed everything for. Understanding what was best for her children, Linda was forced to leave her husband in pursuit of a more stable family environment. She raced away in her 64' Stingray Corvette, never looking back to raise the most important beings in her life. Linda moved to Sacramento to raise her family along with her mother's support. She raised her daughters with every ounce of love. As a tradition, Linda and her family made a yearly trip to Disneyland. She always made sure that her daughters never felt the absence of their father, always going above and beyond to make them feel loved and supported.
Linda pursued Food and Nutrition as a major, receiving her degree as a Dietary Technician in 1994. This provided a career opportunity which led her and her family to the city of Bellflower. She then worked for 22 years making sure that thousands of people, whose diets were placed in her hands, would love what's on their plate. This was never just a job for her. She loved what she did. She would address their diet to make sure it was of their liking and at the same time make sure their health would never be put at risk by providing healthy alternatives that would taste equally as great. Her career wasn't just to feed the people but to meet and treat every individual differently with kindness and respect.
Everyone loved Linda's spirit; even playing board games with her was amusing. We'll never forget her yelling "shrimp, shrimp, shrimp!" when all she had to do was give another clue to describe a lobster. She was so much fun. Some of her favorite past times were watching pre-recorded games to support the Lakers and over ruling court judgments during episodes of The People's Court with Judge Marilyn Milian. There was never a dull moment around Linda Aldrich. There were times where she had no filter and her having bad hearing didn't help that situation either. She would yell out, "that lady's hair is purple!" when the lady was 10 feet away. She absolutely had no library voice but we will always love her for that. Man, she will be missed. She always proved what the word family really meant. By being there for each other, through good and bad times. She made sure there were Friday game nights, camping trips, across the state, adventures to amusement parks and to the river. All to bond with one another and just love life. As her children became of age, another bonding experience was enjoyed at the casino to play her favorite game of 21. And by taking her stubborn GREEK mother along everywhere just made things that much better. Interesting but definitely better. Another love in Linda's life were animals. She loved her feline friends to say the least. If cats had 9 lives she would make sure they lived 10! She was also a collector of movies. Through out the years Linda collected over 3,000 movies.
Linda was a selfless woman willing to help anyone in any type of circumstances. She would hear a cry from miles away and do whatever she could to support that person until they got back on their feet. Her soul was pure. She knew how to make people happy. She showed so much love that she adopted a son along the way named Randy. Which ended up being a torturous decision. All in good fun, there was always love and laughter between these two.
Linda gave people her all. Negative situations did not shake her. Her motto was "No Bad Days," a sticker she had on her truck. No Bad Days…That's huge. To Linda, this meant no matter how bad someone treated you, don't let it get you down. Linda would want you to take a deep breath, wish that person well, and move on. That's a quality we all should have more of, just like Linda Aldrich.
Linda's proudest accomplishment was finding a dream home for her family and being blessed with two grandchildren. Though her time was cut extremely short, the world will miss you but we pray you are somewhere where we all pray to be, in heaven with eternal happiness. You are free.
Linda's legacy will live on. She is survived by daughters Sophia, Vanessa and two grandchildren Milan and Tobias. They will carry on her love every day.

Poem

A beautiful mind that first thought of me
A womb that kept me safe
A smile that exploded
The first time she saw my face

Loving arms that cradled me
Gentle hands that brushed my hair
A contagious, vibrant laugh
That still lingers in the air

Two lips that kissed my banged up knees
And wiped away my tears
A tongue that prayed continuously
Through all my childhood years

Approving eyes that watched me dance
That never missed a show
Ears that listened to all my hurts
Advice that helped me grow

A faith that helped me spread my wings
Her spirit made me strong
Encouragement that made me brave
That helped me write my song
