Obituary

Athanasia Pazouros Kotsiomitis was born June 20, 1933 in Kapsia Greece.
She became an orphan from a father when pappou Panagioti passed before Athanasia was even born.
Yiayia Sophia raised 5 children Georgia, Anastasia, Christina, Kosti and baby Athanasia with the help of her Papagiannopoulos family.
Yiayia never remarried and died before Athanasia got married.
Athanasia was a strong, witty, and hard working lady. She was a dedicated and faithful wife to Nicholas, caring mother to twins George and Kathy, and younger daughter Sophia, thoughtful mother in law to Theodore , and loving grandmother to Yianni, Niko, Fotoula and Eleas.
Athanasia was very smart and graduated from high school in Tripoli Greece. She travelled to America to visit her sisters Anastasia in Fresno California and Georgia in Denver Colorado. She stayed in Denver and worked for Samsonite luggage and created a little fortune.
Athanasia became an American Citizen and wanted to get married. She went back to Greece to visit family in her village Kapsia where she met and married Nicholas Kotsiomits in 1965. She and new husband Nick went to Denver and stayed for a while. She did not like the snow and decided with her husband to move to Los Angeles California. There she started working together with her husband to create the GOLDEN OX LEGACY.
Athanasia had not returned to Greece until her daughter got married in Greece in1997. She had a great time seeing her brother Kosti and sister Christina for 1 last time. Athanasia is the last to die of all 5 children.
She was an incredible, nice, warm, humble, genuine, charitable, honest human being. She never was angry, upset, or said one ill word of anyone. She enjoyed life through her kids and grandkids. She should be someone that we should look up to and follow in her footsteps. She will be missed and always remembered. We love you Yiayia, Trisagion service will be Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 7:00pm, Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 10:00am, both held at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 20340 East Covina Blvd. Covina, CA 91724.
