Brent Andrew
Noyes
June 26, 1952 – April 21, 2023
Brent Noyes passed away on April 21, 2023 after losing a battle to Multiple Myeloma. Brent was born in Los Angeles on June 26, 1952. He attended North Hollywood High School and then went onto the University of Southern California.
Brent was a teacher in the Glendale Unified School District and a principal in La Canada, Agoura Hills, Calabasas and South Pasadena. He loved being a teacher and helping students achieve their goals. Brent was a faithful and proud alumnus of USC. He served on the USC Alumni Association, Board of Governors and the Board of Councilors for the Rossier School of Education. He loved all sports but especially USC football season with his daughter Alexis. They had wonderful years together traveling to games out of state and rooting for 'their' team! You could never meet a nicer, more polite, well mannered person than Brent. He would do anything for anyone if it was possible. He always beautifully dressed and took pride in his appearance.
In 1984 Brent was chrismated into the Orthodox Church under the guidance of his sponsor, Nickolas Edwards. Brent was a member of the Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles. He served in many roles as a steward of the church. Brent served on festival committees and served 5 years as Parish Council President. He was also a fabulous singer lending his talents to the choir for many years. Brent loved attending plays and musicals and his daughter Kellie followed in his footsteps. They went to many wonderful shows together. Brent was the President of the Scholarship Association for the AHEPA, a Greek educational society that helps students pursue their education in college and post graduate school. He loved helping students go forward and reach their dreams.
Brent met his future wife Virginia in 1974 and on June 27, 1982 they were married at Saint Sophia Cathedral. They had three wonderful children: Christopher in 1983, Alexis in 1985 and Kellie in 1988. Brent and Virginia loved Christmas and their house looked like Santa's Village after he decorated every year. He loved decorating for the holidays and truly loved everything from the lights and trees to buying gifts for his family. In August 2022, Brent and Virginia lost their son Christopher Noyes. It was truly a heartbreaking event that he could not bear. But shortly thereafter, Brent was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and started treatment at the end of September. Brent never really recovered, though his blood work looked good he never felt any better and was continuously losing weight. In the middle of the night, at 2:00 a.m. on April 5th, 2023 Brent asked Virginia to call 911 because he could not breathe. He spent the next 16 days in Glendale Adventist Hospital but there was nothing anyone could do to save him. His health did not improve, he continued to decline daily. The cancer had done its damage. The doctors and nurses at Glendale Adventist are amazing people that we must thank for all their care. We will all miss his kind and gentle nature and beautiful smile. He touched so many lives.
Brent is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Edwards), daughters Alexis Katherine and Kellie Nicole, brothers Joseph Noyes and Robert Noyes, sister-in-law Carole Edwards (James Noonan), nephews Matthew (Michelle) Apostle, Joseph B. (Nicholle) Noyes, Kathryn (Brett) Puckett, godsons Emmanuel Santamarina and Evan Boukidis, and many other relatives and friends. Our hearts are broken again.
