Obituary

Listen to Obituary
Christopher N. Karatzas was born at Clara Barton hospital in Los Angeles on October 29, 1924 to George and Irene (nee Roumeliotis) Karatzas and passed away peacefully at his home on February 21, 2017, aged 92. His is survived by his long time companion and best friend, Christina Becronis, sisters, Tula Van Alstine and Joanna Enquist (Phil), and daughters, Irene Bouffard (Dave) and  Georgann McConn (Tony), 6 grandchildren-Chris (Lindsey), Sarah (George), Elizabeth (Dusty), Theodora, Katherine (Josh) and Andy (Michelle) and 6 great grandchildren - George, Reaganne, Carter, Madison, Harvey and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his sister Polly and sons Steven and Johnny, who we are certain were waiting with arms wide open when he joined them in Heaven.

Sailing was a passion of Dad's, he loved his boat the Aetos, and was an accomplished racing captain. Dad and Johnny were formidable competitors on the water. Dad also loved golf and spent many a day of his retirement out on the links with the Greek Army.

His passion for ice cream was unsurpassed and often he would load up all us kids and our dogs, Rags and Duke, to take us down to the Fosters Freeze for ice cream, and yes, even the dogs got their own cones.

In his later years he spent his time traveling, entertaining and spending time with his angel, Christina. Christina and Dad shared a special bond and love, she brought him so much joy and happiness.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to his caregiver, Cecelia. Dad never wanted to be a burden to his kids and we take comfort seeing how well she cared for him.
