Obituary

In loving memory of David Paul Kerr, who left us on April 20, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on September 2, 1941, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was a beacon of light in our lives, guiding us with his wisdom and unwavering faith.

David lived a life marked by service and dedication. Throughout his four years in the Air Force, he was trained as a photographer and assigned to analyze and interpret classified maps. After his military service, he continued to give, both in his professional career and with his church. Leveraging his passion for lithography, he enjoyed a successful career as a sales executive in the high-end printing industry. From his early days doing color analysis at RCA and HCM to his sales tenure at Scitex, FujiFilm, and Kodak, he demonstrated the value of hard work and commitment to providing for his family.

Beyond his professional achievements, David had many interests and hobbies. From his love for all music, showcased through his singing in the choir and a band in his earlier years, to his hobbies of photography, bird watching, and stamp collecting, he embraced life's beauty in all its forms.  Sports were another avenue through which David found joy. Whether it was his love for golf, which he developed during his teen years as a caddy at Inverness Club in Toledo, OH, his enthusiasm for baseball, or his appreciation for Notre Dame football, his passion was infectious.

Above all, David cherished his family. He loved nothing more than when they were all gathered at a lake house with cousins or home for a holiday.  His dedication to his family extended beyond its immediate circle as he was an avid genealogist tracing his roots back through many generations.

David is survived by his loving wife, Dicksie, his brother, Richard Kerr (Rosemary), sister Marjorie Weaver, and his children, Theresa Richey-Verkerk (Daryl), Duane Kerr (Elizabeth), Paul Kerr (Staci), and Michelle Kerr, along with his 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Paul Kerr and Mary Theresa Drury Kerr, and sister, Jane Jilek.  Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit lives on in each of us, a guiding light in our hearts.

We invite you to join us for a memorial service honoring the life of David on May 9th. The viewing will be held from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. PST, followed by the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aliso Viejo, CA. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made in his honor to a charitable organization of the donor's choice.

David, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Your love, humor, and wisdom will continue to inspire us each day. Until we meet again, rest in peace, knowing that you are deeply loved and profoundly missed.
