Deidra, known to friends and family as Dee, was born in Lynwood, California in 1961 to Karis and Edward Matthews and loved by her older brother, Tony Matthews.

Made a native of La Mirada in her first year of school in 1966 at Garden Hill Elementary, Dee became active in sports, especially softball, and showed her energy and spirit while cheering on her brother at his many football games. She then went on to graduate from La Mirada High School in 1979 and was best known for her friendly, outgoing nature with everyone she met.

Although enrolled in a junior college following her high school graduation, Dee was sought after for her work ethics and team player mindset, and she opted instead to go to work in medical claims processing for Prudential Insurance. This industry became her life's work, leading her to make meaningful connections with many different people in various organizations over the years, most recently with Memorial Care in 2012. Her colleagues remember her now as someone who never shied away from fun, especially where work games and group competitions were concerned.

In 1984, Dee married the love of her life, Gregory, and they had a beautiful child together in 1986, Juliette - Her pride and joy ! Through the years, they have enjoyed her extraordinary care and compassion for others. She is remembered as a beautiful soul who lived for the happiness of her family and friends.
