Eleni "Helen" Mavrovouniotis, 83, passed away peacefully September 22, 2014, in Seal Beach, CA. She was born to George and Maria Fragoudakis in Chania-Crete, Greece. Eleni came to America in 1974, and she was a hard worker, who gave much to family, friends and life itself. She married Luka Mavrovouniotis was were married for over 58 years, until he died a little over a year ago in January 2013. She also lost her only son, Costas, who died in 1998.

Eleni and Luka were long time Greek Orthodox Community members, and they served faithfully, they even were the care takers of the old Greek Orthodox Church in Long Beach, before the new Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church was built.

Eleni is survived by two sisters, Barbara (John) Mangoutis, Olympia Lemontzis, and a brother, Mike Fragoudakis, along with numerous nieces, and nephews and family members, both here in the USA and Greece.

A Trisagion service will be held Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 7:00pm, and the Funeral Service will be Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00am, both will be held at Assumption of the blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 5761 E. Colorado Street, Long Beach, California 90814. Interment to follow, where she will be buried along side her son, Costas.
