Obituary

Elizabeth Lembesis Doss, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on November 7, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Pinio and Nicholas Lembesis; her husband, John B. Doss III, with whom she shared 64 years of cherished memories before his passing; two sons, John B. Doss IV and Gregory J. Doss; and her siblings.

Elizabeth leaves behind, to cherish her memory, two daughters, Cynthia C. Hughes (Alan) and Elizabeth M. Doss; four grandchildren, Wendy R. Hunt, John B. Doss V (Amanda), Brandon L. Doss (Christine), and Davin Eidson; her great-grandchildren, Tatum Gregory, John B. Doss VI, Rani Doss, Alice Doss, Soloman Doss, Rylee Doss, Natalie Marlow, and Emilee Marlow; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Her family moved to Long Beach, California, where she lived from about 1944 to 1960. The Nick Lembesis family was one of the founding families of Assumption "Panagia" Greek Orthodox Church in Long Beach, California.

Elizabeth's journey through life was marked by her commitment to family and community. She embraced the role of homemaker with grace and enthusiasm, creating a warm and welcoming home for her loved ones. She was also employed as a medical office manager, where she was known for her efficiency and compassion.

Elizabeth was a passionate advocate for children's welfare. She dedicated countless hours as a CASA volunteer, standing as a voice for abused and neglected children. Her advocacy work was a calling that she pursued with vigor and empathy.

Elizabeth loved cooking, especially for family. She had a talent for sewing, quilting, and pottery. Her Greek heritage was a source of immense pride and joy, and she celebrated it through her cooking, traditions, and the stories she shared with her family. Those who knew Elizabeth will remember her for her kindness, warmth, and generosity. She touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home, 61101 Highway 11, Slidell, Louisiana 70458. A funeral service will begin in the chapel at noon. Following services, Elizabeth will be laid to rest in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana 70460 aside her late husband, John.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1200 Allen Toussaint Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana 70122.
