Elizabeth K.
Smith
May 1, 1928 – March 17, 2021
Elizabeth Katherine Smith passed away on March 17th, 2021, at the age of 92. She is survived by her loving husband Howard, three daughters, Rebecca, Theresa (Rudy), Katherine (Richard), and grandson Nicholas. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, neighbors, and friends.
She was born in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin and graduated from St. Mary Springs Academy. She married Howard Smith at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary and they moved to Southern California.
She volunteered for many years in the La Habra City School District in La Habra, CA. and the Oceanview School District in Huntington Beach, CA. She also worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist at the office of Dr. Tom T. Chen, DDS for several years.
Elizabeth was a beautiful, caring, vibrant woman. She and her husband were married for 67 years. They traveled the world often to remote places that few have been and often with their children and grandson. Elizabeth climbed Machu Pichu at the age of 70.
She was an avid reader and loved classic literature especially Shakespeare. Attending many theater productions including opera was her favorite activity and she was a big advocate for the Arts.
One of the greatest joys in her life was her grandson, Nicholas. There are countless memories of her participation in his childhood with travels around the country and overseas that they shared.
There really are not enough words to express how unique she was. She is forever in our hearts. One of her favorite expressions was "Carpe Diem." She certainly lived that.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am on July 21, 2021, at St. Bonaventure, 16400 Springdale Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92649.
