Fotini Gavril Gavriiloglou, age 89, passed away peacefully at her son's home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 8, 2018.  She was born on February 15, 1928 in Drama, Greece, to Petros and Bethlehem Politis. She had four brothers and one sister (Alexani, Giorgos, Yiannie, Savas, and Eleni).

In 1943 at the age of 15, she married Gavril Gavriiloglou, just prior to his admittance into the Greek Army to fight for his country in World War II. Together, Fotini and Gavril had four sons: Spiros, Theodoros, Giorgos, and Xristos. In 1978, Fotini became a widow after 35 years of marriage to Gavriil. For the remainder of her life, she continued to love her husband and family.

Fotini's greatest joy was her family. She took great pride in showcasing her son's accomplishments, including her grandchildren to family and friends that she encountered both in Greece and in America.

Fotini is survived by her sister, her four beloved sons, 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Trisagon services will be held at 7:00pm on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Downey, CA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 also at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, followed by the burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA.
