Frank Dimitrios
Soris
June 1, 1935 – May 29, 2024
Frank Soris peacefully passed away at the age of 88 in Phoenix, Arizona on May 29, 2024.
Frank was born in Athens Greece and was an only child. At the noticeably early age of 5, Frank lost his parents during WWII. He was left on his own to find his way to Tripoli where he stayed and worked at the family pharmacy by his mother's side until he was able to save enough money to go to America. He was 13 years old when the ship took sail with little money in his pocket. When he arrived in the United States he went to Chicago where he worked in restaurants and eventually learned how to make furs. He mastered that craft and moved to California to open his own furrier shop in Beverly Hills. After many years he opened his first restaurant, Mr. G's, and many more to follow. It was at this point in his life that he had four children, Christina, Valerie, Nicoleta and Dimitri. Several years later he moved to Arizona and became a real estate investor, finding success with every endeavor.
Frank was an avid learner and mastered anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed a great night out at the Bouzoukia with his friends dancing the night away.
Frank was a devoted father and survived by his children, Christina Barker (Steven), Valerie Athanas (Michael), Nicoleta Masouris (Vlase) and Dimitri Soris. He also has six grandchildren, Katherine Barker 14, Joseph Barker 13, Kosta Athanas 12, Sia Athanas 11, Kyparisia Masouris 7 and Maggie Masouris 4. He also had many godchildren and a large extended family spanning from Greece to Canada, Chicago, Texas, and California.
The Trisagion and Funeral will be held at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church (5761 E. Colorado Street, Long Beach, CA 90814) on Friday, June 7th, 2024, at 10:00am followed by a Makaria at the hall, finishing with the burial at Rose Hills Cemetery (3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90601).
