Obituary

A quiet and gentle soul, passed quietly into the night on August 1st surrounded by family. Garland (86) was born in Orange, California and lived his entire life in the city, except for a short stint in the Army (Korean Conflict). He graduated from Orange High School and Fullerton College. He was a photographer/print setter in his early years for the Orange Daily News, then on to a very long career with McCandless Tile Company who were his second family. He was a avid walker and was known by many in the west Orange and "Circle" areas as that was his preferred path. He enjoyed panning for gold, golfing, and fixing things.

Garland was preceded in death by his parents Garland Lotha Hedrick, Sr., and Bessie (Pugh) Hedrick, his brother William Hedrick; son Steven Hedrick; wife Doris (Slack) Hedrick of 47 years and ex-wife Donna (Coate) Hedrick.

He is survived by his children Dori (David) Sullivan, Gavin (Jeri) Hedrick, Ramsey Graham, and Gail Hedrick (widow of Steven). Grandchildren: Sean Sullivan, Brian (Brittany) Hedrick, Joel (Barb) Hedrick, Carson (Hannah) Hedrick, Simon Hedrick, Samantha and Amanda Graham.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend of the neighborhood and all those who know or met him. He will be missed by all who know him. Per his wishes there will be a private family gathering at a future date whereby his ashes will be released at his beloved desert property.
