Obituary

George Giakos will always be a light and inspiration to all who knew of him. A fighter throughout his life, yet still the sweetest boy; spreading love and courage to everyone around him. His Papou always refers to him as his Spartan! He is truly a miracle God bestowed on us, to care for and learn from; to spread His word and return to heaven. George took on that responsibility and glorified God in doing so. He battled and defeated stage 4 brain cancer as an infant, defying medical books and re-writing history along the way. His strength and wonder spread worldwide, and his love conquered all.

George's early journey took him throughout the country to receive specialized care and treatments. He attended and loved his learning setting at Reilly Elementary School in Mission Viejo since the age of three. He is also a seven-year member of the VIP soccer team in his hometown of Rancho Santa Margarita. He loved getting on the field every Saturday and participating in the annual tournament every year with his team. He is a beloved member of his church, Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church in San Juan Capistrano, and member of the Sunday School there. Many Sundays he assisted Father Bill and the church choir with his voice and beautiful sounds. They all love him. He also frequently attended Saddleback Church, enjoying the sermons and music.

George helped spread God's love through his involvement in his activities. He loved his family, church, school (physical education, pool time, and field trips were his favorite), playing soccer (his close friends from the VIP team always had a special bond), music (blues and jazz were two of his favorites), and had his go-to rattles and chew toys. Dancing, loud conversations and sounds, and sudden movements all made George laugh with pure joy. His favorite vacations included annual trips to San Diego, Coronado Island, Hawaii, and his memorable Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World while staying at the real-life Candyland, Give Kids The World Village. There, his memory and personalized star on the ceiling of the Castle of Miracles and Star Tower will live forever. George and his family also attend Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times every year in the San Jacinto Mountains. The volunteers and activities there (fishing, archery, games, songs, arts and crafts, rest, and bonding time) are cherished memories.

George brought an incredible perspective to life, and we are blessed to have been with him every step of the way. We witnessed miracles through George, and we cannot thank him enough for that. George touched the hearts of many, and he made even more believe. He will always continue to do so. To God be the glory.

Forever our hero; Forever our miracle. May his memory be eternal.
