George Giannikas was born in Kapsia Arcadias on January 1, 1933 to Yianni and Marigo Giannikas. He was the youngest of three children after Theodora and Dino. His generation lived through some of the most challenging times for the fairly young Greek nation. As a young child he lived through WW II and the German occupation and the Greek Civil war, which greatly impacted his education and view of the world for the remainder of his life, like it did for all young men and women of his generation. He attended junior high School in Levidi, which is 10 kilometers from Kapsia. Like most students at the time, he rented a room and had to cook and manage on his own.

In the 1950s he served in the Greek Air Force for over two years and returned to Kapsia to work on the family farm. Asking his contemporaries in Greece what they remember most about George, the comments came back that he was a "hard worker" and that he was funny.

Like many other young Greeks at the time, he immigrated to the United States to join his brother Dino. The long journey to Ellis Island was full of adventures and lifetime stories and friendships. He appreciated the opportunities in his new adopted homeland, where he started working in the restaurant business, later being an owner for many years.

George was married in the early 1970s and had two sons Yianni and Tasso and was divorced in the late 1980s. After his brother's Dino death in 2014, his adventurous character took him to Twenty-Nine Palms where he bought a house and lived there for about two years. Realizing that it was best to be closer to his sister Theodora. He spent the last six years of his life living in at a senior Condominium complex for seniors in Fullerton, where he met a new group of friends who would comment on how funny he was and how he was giving everyone advice on home remedies for everything that ailed them. Vinegar, preferably in the form of "pickle juice" was the secret cure-all and urged everyone to try it.

He was preceded in passing by his sister Theodora Kapogianis, brother Dino Giannikas and nephew John Philip Giannikas.

George will be greatly missed by his family and everyone that loved him and understood him. May he rest in peace and may his memory be eternal.
