It is with great sadness that we announce that George Andrea Sehremelis passed away suddenly on July 4, 2016. He was born and died in his village Distomo, Greece.
He was the son of Andrea and Froso Sehremelis. He is predeceased by a brother Yanni and sister Anastasia. He is survived by a sister Hariklea of Distomo and a sister Olga(Spiro) of Athens, Greece.
He is also survived by four children and seven grandchildren. Andy (Leslie), Peter, Froso (Ilias), and John (Despina). Grandchildren include Tina, Eleni and George Sehremelis, Polimnia Stathas, and Jonathan, Alexander and Athena Sehremelis. In addition, he leaves many nieces and nephews here in the states and in Greece as well.
George immigrated to the United States when he was 15 years old. He left his family in Greece for a better life in America. He first was in Chicago and then settled in Southern California. He was a chef at Sam's Seafood in Sunset Beach along with other newly immigrated Greeks. His determination, hard work and perserverance culminated in him becoming a successful businessman.
He would still go into his restaurant "The Golden Burger" in Long Beach on a daily basis. He loved his employees, his customers and his daily routine.
He was an Angel's fan, loved cowboy westerns and stayed abreast of current news topics and politics. He had a humorous wit about him and loved to make people laugh.
In the last part of his life he was most proud of ALL of his grandchildren. He was happy to be a Papou. You could see him at his restaurant having lunch with them and teaching them how to cook in the kitchen. He was in constant attendance at his grandchildren's sport events and proudly wore a USC Papou sweatshirt regularly.
In the last year he relaxed and traveled to Hawaii, Las Vegas (one of his favorite places) and Utah. His last vacation would be to his beloved village Distomo where in the last few weeks of his life he was able to see relatives and boyhood friends. He was truly happy there.

We will miss you Dad and Papou. Always in our hearts.
