George Ted
Treantafelles
October 14, 1938 – December 17, 2023
With a sunny smile that brightened lives, George Treantafelles was born in Rosemead, California on October 14, 1938, and peacefully passed away in West Covina on December 17, 2023, where he had resided for 50 years.
George's warm and joyful personality drew children to him effortlessly, creating a bond that was truly special. He was preceded in death by his brother Nick, his parents Ted and Nota, and his granddaughter Geneva. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years Helen, his daughter Patrice, son Teddy, sons-in-law Craig and Adam, cherished grandchildren Nick and Shelby, and his brothers Stan and Dean.
A proud veteran, George served in the National Guard and held a special place in the hearts of his community. His family came from Achladokampos, Greece, and he brought his heritage to California, attending Mark Keppel High School and later graduating from Cal State LA. He had a successful career in the food industry and was with Sunny Sally near downtown Los Angeles for over 25 years.
George's zest for life led him to explore the world. An avid traveler, he ventured across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, with special fondness for Sedona and Carlsbad. He visited Greece, Spain, and all throughout Europe, as well as Mexico, Canada, Cuba, and cruising through the Baltic and Panama Canal.
His hobbies reflected his diverse interests - gardening, westerns, crafting stained glass, and hunting. He was a long time member of Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, and as a youth was President of the Sons of Pericles. George truly found solace in his community and his faith.
Known for his love of speed, George enjoyed his hot rods, a 1923 T bucket and 1932 high boy. A skilled cook, he delighted family and friends with his culinary creations. His sharp sense of humor, often laced with sarcasm, endeared him to many.
Humble and noble, George leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and adventure. His memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were touched by his remarkable life.
May his memory be eternal.
