Hal Glenn
Evans, Sr.
April 4, 1935 – December 17, 2020
After several months of illness, Hal Glenn Evans, Sr. returned to his loving Heavenly Father on December 17, 2020. He was born to Austin Glenn Evans and Margie Roberts Evans on April 4, 1935 in Los Angeles, California. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Monrovia where he excelled in school, even skipping a couple of grades. He graduated from "MAD" High School with honors. And was very proud to attend, and graduate from USC Pharmacy School in 1959. He worked as a pharmacist, serving the community and his family and friends, for nearly 38 years.
In 1966, he met the love of his life, Mina Shumway, on a blind date. They were sealed in the Mesa Temple, for time and all eternity on June 22, 1968. It was pretty amazing that an only child from California married a country girl from Woodruff, Arizona who was the 11th of 18 children. They bought their home in Arcadia immediately, where they made their life together. They were blessed with two beautiful children, the highlight of their life. The family loved to travel, have picnics at the park, play whiffle ball in the backyard, and read bedtime stories together.
Hal faithfully served a mission for the LDS church in Arcadia, and with his sweet wife in Raleigh, North Carolina. Following their mission, they served for three years in the Los Angeles Temple. Traveling was one of his greatest loves, especially Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, and Princess Cruises all over the world. He also loved Disneyland, USC Football, telling stories, stamp and coin collecting, his dear friends, and his beloved family.
Those who knew Hal know of his profound love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed serving in various callings in the church throughout his life. He took each one very seriously.
Hal is survived by his wife Mina, children and grandchildren: Michele and Paul Rice (Daniel, Lindsay, Austin, Emmie, and Janelle), and Hal and Lori Evans (Claire, Colin, Elise, Camille, and Luke). We will miss him, and we know he will watch over us forever. We find comfort in knowing we will be together again.
Scripture:
2 Nephi 32:3
"Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what you should do."
