Helen G. Angelopoulos, "Eleni," 70 of Hesperia fell asleep in the Lord on November 29, 2014 at her home.
She was born on May 19, 1944 to Ioannis and Anastasia (Marmaras) Tsakonas in Agios Vasilis, Greece. She married Gus N. Angelopoulos in 1964 and lived in Nemea, Greece until the age of 21. In 1969, the young couple with their two small children immigrated to the United States to follow the American dream.
In the United States, Helen and Gus had a demanding work ethic and worked tirelessly in the restaurant and catering business for many years.
The family moved to Hesperia in 1979, where they opened the Olympic Flame and International Gourmet Catering by Eleni. Helen was a talented chef and served patrons for over 45 years. She will be remembered for her happy, loving and generous personality. Most importantly, she dedicated her life to loving and supporting her family.
She is survived by her loving son, Nikolaos Angelopoulos; her loving daughter, Athanasia Mosgopoulos; her cherished grandchildren, Gianni, Larissa, Tino and Jalen; her cherished great-grandchild, Chloe Athena; her loving brothers, Anastasios and Demetrios; and her loving sister, Georgia.
Trisagion Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 7:00pm, and funeral services will be Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:00am, both to be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Downey. Following the services she was laid to rest at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
She will be missed by all who knew her; may her memory be eternal.
