Helen Apostle, long time philanthropist to Long Beach charities and her church, passed away peacefully in her home on December 22, 2017. She was born in Fresno, CA to Vasilios and Athena Damianos who had immigrated there from Constantinople, Turkey. Her husband of many years, John Apostle, predeceased her in 1996. Together, they developed and operated the Golden Sails Inn for many years.

She is survived by several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews across the United States. Trisagion services will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 and the funeral service will be at 10 am on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 5761 E. Colorado Street, Long Beach, CA 90814. Makaria (mercy meal) after the service, then interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cypress. In lieu of flowers it is suggested that donations be made in her name to the church.
