HOPE M. RUSSOS (1928 – 2017), beloved by everyone who met her, died peacefully in her sleep last Tuesday evening. Her sweet disposition and wry humor attracted friends and family alike, and she reveled in welcoming all into the warmth of her home for a meal, a cup of coffee, or just conversation.
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Hope was sweet natured, very kind, loved to laugh, and was a good sport who was easy to tease. Her passions were her family, especially her grandchildren, and her Church. She loved to dance, played the piano, and was gifted with a beautiful singing voice that she used in choirs both secular and non-secular. In 2009 she was awarded the well-deserved honor of Mother of the Year by the community of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Theofilos Russos; her loving daughters (and sons-in-law) Argie Mandakas (Thomas Hall), Lea Kiapos, Joanne Mandakas (Joseph Semder); and her beloved grandchildren Erin Johnson, Katrina Kiapos, and Artemio Semder.
Trisagion (Memorial Service) will be held at 7 pm on Sunday, January 15 at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 405 North Dale Street, Anaheim 92801. Light refreshments will be served following the Service.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church (405 N. Dale St., Anaheim 92801). Interment will be at Noon at Westminster Memorial Park (4801 Beach Blvd, Westminster 92683), followed by a luncheon in the Hall at St. John's.
