Mr. John George Hadjis, son of the late Reverend George John Hadjis and Presbytera Katherine Hadjis was born February 22, 1938 in Kozani, Greece. He graduated from Youngstown University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering majoring in physics, which led to a very rewarding career as an aeronautical engineer. He was involved in highly classified military projects such as the space rocket launching, the minuteman defense missile, military drones and then finishing his career with the Space Station launch. His constant passion for knowledge parlayed him to further his education by obtaining a Law Degree, a Doctorate in Business and become a master in the field of real estate and stocks. His love for knowledge though, could not come close to his endless love for his wife, Elizabeth Hadjis to whom he was married to for fifty three years.
John and Liz ran off together to explore the world, their love and happiness. They eventually settled in California, where they lived, what most would consider "the American Dream!"
John had a passion for life and wanted to experience as much as he could. He was proficient in many sports such as skiing, fencing, tennis, racquetball and sailing. He loved the arts, enjoying painting, classical music and theater. He had a deep faith in God and was an active member of Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the parish council and found great joy in singing with the choir, but mainly he was the quiet voice behind the scenes; encouraging and guiding his family to have faith in God and to look for the good in all people.
He touched the lives of so many, and his influence and generosity will forever remain in the lives of those that truly knew him well. John quietly departed this life on Thursday, September 6, 2018 with his family at his side.
His amazingly full life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, Liz and children: Christina Hadjis and George Hadjis, daughter-in-law: Gabby Hadjis, well loved grandson: Lukas Hadjis and devoted uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Trisagion service will be at 7pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, followed by coffee in the church hall. Funeral service will be at 11am on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 with the Makaria (mercy meal) luncheon following in the church hall. Both services will be held at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 405 N. Dale Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92801. The interment will be at Forest Lawn, 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA 90630.
