Mr. John George Marakas III passed away on May 27, 2017 in Encino, California, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Kalamata, Greece and attended the University of Athens. He proudly served as an intelligence officer in the Hellenic Navy. Upon moving to the United States, John received an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. His subsequent career in investment banking spanned nearly 50 years, and included terms at Drexel Burnham Lambert and Wells Fargo Advisors.

A Trisagion service will be held at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 7 PM. Funeral services will take place at the church on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 AM. The burial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

John is survived by his beloved wife Anastasia, daughter Gia, and Maria Burgos. His happiest moments were spent with his family enjoying the sun and sea on Balboa Island.
