Obituary

John Edward McGrath was born February 27, 1964, in El Cajon, California and unexpectedly passed away on November 6, 2021, in Riverside, California. At the age of nine his mother and sister moved to Victor, Colorado where he grew up and graduated from Cripple-Creek Victor High School. At 21 years old, he became a firefighter in Victor and also discovered his love for mining and geology. In 1993, John moved to Los Angeles, CA where met his wife Christina. They moved to San Diego in 1995 where they raised two sons and he worked as a superintendent of heavy equipment at Vinci-Pacific for 15 years. John had many talents and career ambitions; he was a MSHA certified instructor, he ran huge haul trucks, was a consultant for the mining industry, and had an A license in construction. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.

In 1997, John and Christina welcomed their son Anthony. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, family member, and friend. John made everyone laugh with his witty humor, playfulness, and pranks. He loved everything about life, he was the epitome of a 'Rolling Stone', an explorer. John was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church where he volunteered at the Greek Festivals and enjoyed time with the community. John is survived by his wife Christina, sons Thomas (Emily) Liakos, Alex Liakos, and Anthony McGrath, grandchildren Mary and Poppy, and sister Janine McGrath. He was preceded in life by his mother Sheryl Stone and step-father Tom Stone.

May John's memory be eternal.
