Judy L. Castaneda, 74 years old, passed away on 11 June 2016 at her home in Alhambra, CA. She was the wife of Robert Castaneda. They shared over 42 years of love and respect for each other. Judy was born in Highland Park, CA, the daughter of Floyd M. Chastain and Mary M. Baker. She spent most of her career at Cal State Los Angeles in various positions. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities in her church. She had a special interest in music, which she shared with her husband as members of the Los Angeles Police Band, Burbank Band, Scottish Rite Band, and others. Judy was an Eastern Star participant and enjoyed many opportunities to serve in her community. Most recently, she was a docent at the Arboretum and found great joy in walking and teaching the children about what nature has to offer. She also knitted and crocheted preemie baby hats for the Los Angeles Children's Hospital. Known for her candid, straightforward, no-nonsense attitude, Judy approached life directly with compassion and loyalty that is beyond compare. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday June 16, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building, 1212 S. Eighth St. Alhambra, CA 91801.
