Mrs. Julia "Carol" (Condron) Flores, born in Goree, TX on January 2, 1941, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on February 17, 2017. She peacefully passed away of heart failure after a long, stubbornly fought battle with illness, surrounded by family while at home in Lake Forest, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and siblings. Known for her famous hugs and gentle nature, she made friends easily and fiercely loved people without judgment. She ended every phone conversation with "I love you" and was a master emoji user.
Carol was a deeply devoted wife of 61 years to Edward Flores Jr. They were married May 10, 1955. She was a beloved mother to Connie Marie Justice (Christopher Paul Justice), Edward Flores III (Maria Flores), Robert Flores (Jacqueline Pilar Flores), Peter Flores (Deborah M. Price-Flores) and Julia A. Cerwin (Brian W. Cerwin). She was the BEST "Grammy" to her grandchildren; Joshua Scott Brown (Melina Miller), Megan Nicole Rettig (John Rettig), Penelope Coral Brasel (Dan Brasel), PFC Dakota Benjamin Justice, Edward Flores IV, Brent Justin Flores (Emily Flores) Ryan Allen Flores (Michelle Flores), Jonathan M. Fernando, Christopher M. Fernando (Regina Joy Fernando), Anthony Michael Flores, Alexander C. Price (Camille Garrard), Melanie K. Price, Sarah Flynn (Daraugh Flynn), Julia C. Cerwin (Justin Witt), Brian W. Cerwin Jr. and great grandchildren; Violet Harper Rettig, Brent Jr. Christian and Alyssa Flores, Lily Elaine Fernando, Isaiah Anthony James Flores, Bennett Michael Maggard, Sascha Garrard, Deliliah Joe, Jeremiah Moses, and Isabella Ann Flynn. Special friends include Ms. Jean Finley who cared for her at the end of her life and who became like a sister to her, and Mrs. Barbara Watters. Her beloved dog, "Mister" Osito, is still caring for Mr. Flores. She was the cornerstone of her family legacy and is missed by everyone, although we have confidence that we will see her again in glory with the Lord.
Carol was an active PTA member and baseball-mom in Garden Grove when her children were growing up, and in midlife she worked for 3-M and Scantron corporations. The couple moved to Lake Forest when Carol retired, where she enjoyed her home and hobbies including scrapbooking, sewing and cooking. She loved bright colors, playing bingo, flowers and the simple joys of life. She was a lifelong learner and follower of Christ, and never missed a Charles Stanley sermon on TV. Her spicy hot-sauce is an unmatched favorite with family and friends. She liked cooking for her husband and family, enjoyed good coffee, loved celebrating holidays and always remembered birthdays. Most of all, she was a woman who demonstrated the Love of Christ through her smile, warmth, compassion and genuine love for others. She gave to many charities and loved to watch game shows on TV toward the end of her life. She would often think of family members when seeing infomercials on TV, and many times purchased items for others that way…she was so fun!
The Flores Family Christmas Party, held annually in her home, was a fabulous family affair, and always included a birthday cake for Jesus. The "Happy Birthday" song was sung to Him by everyone. She began a Christmas tradition of donating to a charitable cause (in lieu of exchanging gifts) in the family name, which was done every year and will be continued in her name.
(John 14:27) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
