We have lost a sweet and kind-hearted woman.

Kostadina Spiropoulos Bacoulis, lovingly known as "Bacoulina," passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. She was born on March 5, 1942, to Trifona and Yiannoula Spiropoulos in the village of Kamenitsa, in the Peloponnese region of Arkadia, Greece. She was the fifth of six children.

To say that times were extremely difficult during her early years would be an understatement. World War II was at its height, leaving Greece war-torn and impoverished, and in the ensuing vacuum of power the country fell into civil war. Kostadina and her family endured extreme poverty and hunger. From a very young age, she learned resilience, perseverance, and strength - not only physical strength, but strength of character, spirit, and will. These hardships shaped the quiet but powerful woman she would become, grounding her in humility, endurance, and a deep devotion to family and home.

In the spring of 1966, Kostadina immigrated to the United States with her siblings Thanasi and Vicky Spiropoulos, sponsored by her brother James T. Spiropoulos. Shortly after arriving, she was introduced to Athanasios "Tommy" Bacoulis in August of 1966. They were married on November 6, 1966, and she remained a devoted wife until his passing on October 9, 2021.

Kostadina was a devoted wife and mother and was extremely proud of her role as a homemaker. She embraced this role fully and lovingly, dedicating herself to her husband and children with care, patience, and quiet determination. Her strength was evident in the way she carried responsibility, provided stability, and created a home rooted in love, discipline, and warmth.

One of her cherished hobbies was crochet and needlepoint, skills at which she was extremely talented. She filled her home with handmade blankets and artwork, each piece a reflection of her patience, creativity, and care for others.

Everyone knew her loving saying, which she would always use to end her conversations and goodbyes: «Την ευχή μου να έχεις», meaning "May you have my blessing," or commonly understood as "I wish you well."

Kostadina is survived by her daughter Elene Dalkos and her husband Pete; her sons Angelo Bacoulis and his wife Georgia, and Tommy Bacoulis and his wife Leslie; and her grandchildren, whom she loved most dearly: Yanni Dalkos, Soula Bacoulis, Thanasi Dalkos and his wife Sarah, Angela Bacoulis, Athena Bacoulis, and Dena Dalkos.

All services will be at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 5761 E. Colorado Street, Long Beach, California 90815. The Trisagion is at 7pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026 and the funeral is at 11am on Friday, January 16, 2026. Interment at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
