Lena Nilsen was born in Los Angeles, to Greek immigrants. She grew up in a family of scholars, artists, writers and successful businessmen. She herself became a renowned musician, mastering many musical instruments, though her love was the piano. Her majestic synergy with that instrument was ineffable. She studied at USC's renowned School of Music, and gained great success and high esteem for her unrivaled technique and unequaled depth of interpretation. She has exhilarated thousands of people with the magic and utter beauty of her music.
Her gusto for life was inexhaustible, her love for music, nature and the good life was what kept her spry, lovable and ageless.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Aylward, her grandchildren, Mark and Paul Roesler, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Saint Sophia Cathedral, 1324 S Normandie Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90006 (323) 737-2424 Wednesday, September 17th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Starving Children.
