Obituary

Margie was born in Bauxite, Arkansas December 3, 1917 and the family lived in Little Rock, Arkansas until they move to Denver, Colorado when she was ten years old. They started attending the Nazarene Church and joined the church when she was fourteen. (Rev. Melza Brown was the Pastor at that time).
She graduated from East Denver High School and was married to Harry Wynkoop in 1938. In 1941 the coup moved to Dallas, Texas. She started working in the home office of Southland Life Insurance
Company in Dallas where she worked for fifteen years. She was the Secretary to the Senior Vice President of the company. Her first husband, Harry, passed away in September 1957 at the age of 42. They were married 19 years.

Margie remarried November 4, 1960, to Rev. Gordon Blacklock, their wedding was at Bresse Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena, California, along with moving into the Alhambra parsonage where Gordon was a Pastor at the time, she not only inherited a church family, but two step-sons, Lorne and Wayne, who kept things buzzing around the house and especially in the kitchen. They had just started their first year at Pasadena College. Later there were two daughter's-in-law added; then four grandchildren; then their spouses; and three great grand-daughters. Each addition made life a little more interesting. Baby-sitting became her favorite pastime.

Margie's testimony: "I enjoyed sharing the last four churches that Gordon pastor-ed, three of which he built. Church has been my life since becoming a Christian back in Denver, Colorado; singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School classes, working in the Missionary Society, etc., all of which helped me to become a pastor's wife, (with a lot of help from the Lord, of course)."

Gordon retired in 1978 and supplied different pulpits for ten years. He passed away April 16, 1993 at the age of 84. They were married 32 years.

Margie passed away July 2, 2013 at the age of 95. There will be a graveside service held at Live Oak Memorial Park, Tuesday July 23, 2013. A reception will be held later that day.
