Obituary

Mary P. Vlahakis, 92, passed away peacefully July 2, 2016. She was born in Karoutes, Greece to George and Theonie Kazos. She was a woman of many talents, and who gave so much to her family, friends and the community. She loved her church, and was a long time member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy Vlahakis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter William Vlahakis, in 2001, and her son, William G. Vlahakis, in 2006. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Trisagion will be at 7 pm on Sunday, July 10, 2016. The funeral service will be at 11 am on Monday, July 11, 2016, followed by the makaria. Both services will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 5761 East Colorado Street, Long Beach, CA 90814. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Cypress, California. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
