Metamorfi "Morfi" Kokkinides entered eternal life peacefully on October 27, 2018 at home with family by her side. She was 97 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, godmother and friend.
Morfi Kokkinides was born on August 20, 1921 in Sohoum, Russia (now modern day Georgia) where she was the 4th of 14 children to Paraskevi (Eleftheriadou) and George Stephanides. In 1939, she and her family left Russia and immigrated back to Greece prior to the start of World War II. During her family's emigration she met her future husband, Petros Kokkinides, who was instrumental in getting Morfi and her family safely back to Greece where they settled in Katerini, Greece. On February 25, 1945, Morfi married Petros Kokkinides. They were blessed with four children. In 1964, Petros, Morfi and their family immigrated to the United States. They worked hard and opened their first restaurant, Hercules Burgers, in 1967. Through the years they remained committed to their family, church, Greek community, and work. They were blessed with 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Morfi Kokkinides was preceded in death by her daughter Maria (70 years ago), her son Demitrios (15 years ago) and her husband Petros (8 years ago). She is survived by her daughters Georgia (Nikoforos Valaskantjis), Zoi-Joyce Kokkinides, 6 grandchildren (Morfi, Maria-Zoi and Peter Kokkinides; George, Perry and Peter Valaskantjis) and 8 great grandchildren (Nikoforos, Evangelos, and Georgia Valaskantjis; Nikoforos and Konstantinos Valaskantjis; Nikoforos, Georgia and Antonios Valaskantjis).
Morfi loved her family, raising and caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. In turn, she was loved by her family and will be deeply missed. May her memory be eternal.
