Nikki Hussein, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. She was born in Cyprus on December 1, 1940, the daughter of Christakis and Andriana Antona. Her parents named her Nikki for the meaning of victory or champion in ancient Greek.

Nikki was loved and cherished by her family, who recognized her gifted intelligence, motivated nature, personable character, and cooking.

Her parents instilled in her the value of a good education. After graduating college in Cyprus, she was quickly employed as a bookkeeper at a social children's welfare office, which culturally was a rare occurrence for a young girl in the late 50s.

Nikki continued to be a champion in aspects of her life. After the unexpected death of her father, the family emigrated to the United Kingdom, where Nikki became an accomplished accountant. While working as an accountant at her company, outside auditors frequently visited her, which is how she met Syed. They quickly developed a friendship as they continued to work closely together. Their friendship blossomed, and he soon became her soulmate and inseparable beloved husband of 47 years. They were blessed with their only child, Alexander, who has many of Nikki's traits. Nikki was the most doting parent and role model for Alex: a champion mom.

Syed, Nikki, and Alex immigrated to the United States in 1979, which was heartbreaking for her family; nevertheless, they departed on their new endeavors with everyone's blessing. Nikki quickly found a full-time job, ran her home, took excellent care of Alex; being the driven, high achiever she was, she continued her education and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Cal State University Long Beach in 1992 and continued working as a Controller until she was 75 years old.

She touched many hearts with her glowing warmth and will be remembered by those who knew her well and loved her so dearly as the person we should all aspire to be.

Nikki is survived by her husband and best friend Syed Hussein, son Alex (Kerry) Hussein, and sister to Tatia, Dora, Angela, Tasos, Kakia, Alex, Helen, Androulla, and preceded in death by a brother, Tony. A cherished sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

A funeral is scheduled at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 405 N. Dale Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801. Followed by burial at 2:00pm at El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, CA 92630. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nikki's life.
