Olympia Stapakis of Los Alamitos, CA passed away on March 23, 2022, peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family. Born in Mason City, Iowa to parents Christos and Neke Serakos on February 21, 1932, she grew up in a tight-knit Greek community. Olympia graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in dietetics and then married and moved with her family to California where she obtained her master's in nutrition and later taught at Long Beach State. She became chief Dietitician for Los Angeles County where she served many years before starting her real state investing career.

She is survived by her daughters Nikki Andrews and Dr. Alison Stapakis, and sons Steven Stapakis and Dr. James Stapakis. She has seven grandchildren, George and Christos Andrews, Olympia and Savas Zamvakellis, John Stapakis, Argerey and Chris Stapakis. Olympia was immensely proud of her family, her living legacy.

Olympia was always an inspiration to her family and friends. A devoted servant of the Long Beach Assumption Church, she served as president of the parish council and was instrumental in developing the new Gymnasium and Sunday school building. She was an active member of Philoptochos.

The Trisagion will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Assumption Church in Long Beach. Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, April 8, 2022 with lunch to follow. The burial will be at 2:30pm on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Forest Lawn Cemetery Cypress CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Assumption Church in Long Beach.
