Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Eileen Allen on February 15, 2024, a remarkable woman who gracefully navigated life until complications from cirrhosis of the liver took her away. Born on April 17, 1943, Pat's journey was marked by resilience, determination, and an unwavering love for her family, friends, and cherished furry companions.

Pat's memory is lovingly kept alive by her children, Russell Wayne Allen (54) and Deborah Allynn Waters (53), her son-in-law and football buddy, Mitchell Lamans Waters (48), her loyal dog who was always by her side, Jewel, and a close-knit circle of friends, who she regarded as family.

Despite being a single mother, she discovered remarkable resilience in challenging situations, consistently excelling in her professional duties to provide for her children's basic needs. Her unwavering determination ensured that there was always food on the table and a roof over their heads. Outside motherhood and work, her various passions illuminated the multifaceted aspects of her personality.

Pat's passion for literature and book collecting not only enriched her own life but also forged an intellectual connection with her son Rusty. A highlight of their love for the written word was attending the Los Angeles Times Book Festival annually, where they immersed themselves in the vibrant world of books. The festival not only became a tradition for them but also a source of lasting memories and shared experiences in their literary adventures.

Moreover, Pat's devotion to animals was passed down to her daughter Debbie, forming a shared commitment to the well-being of furry companions. The culmination of this shared passion manifested during their trip to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. The experience not only strengthened their bond but also allowed them to actively contribute to the welfare of animals, creating lasting memories and a shared sense of purpose.

Pat was a tried-and-true Dallas Cowboys and University of Texas football fan. She often exchanged text messages on game days with her son-in-law as they razzed each other about their team's performance that day.

Over the last few decades, she has forged strong bonds through friendships that left a lasting imprint on her life. This chosen family flourished and solidified through the power of love and acceptance. A cherished ritual for Pat involved frequent gatherings at Polly's Pies in Huntington Beach, where she would eagerly meet up with these beloved friends - her tribe. In this cozy haven, stories flowed, and laughter echoed.

Let us remember Pat for the love she generously shared, the unwavering strength she embodied, and the compassion that defined her enduring legacy. May her memory be a well of inspiration, and may she find eternal peace.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held April 17, 2024, on what would have been her 81st birthday. To honor Pat's memory, the family requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Best Friends Animal Society - a cause that held a special place in her heart.
