Patricia Irene Gauvain born October 23rd, 1943 left this Earth to be with her heavenly Father, November 23rd, 2018. Patricia is the youngest of five children and daughter to Peter and Lucille Fortunes. Her father, Peter immigrated as a young boy from Greece to the United States. Patricia grew up in West Orange, New Jersey. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert John Gauvain, and then started her family. Together they moved to California in search of a great place to raise their children. Patricia began her career as one of the first woman journeyman meat cutters in southern California. She worked for Alpha Beta for 23 years. She loved the opportunity to work as a woman in a male-dominated field. She was a mentor to "her boys" as she referred to them and was respected by all. After she retired as a meat cutter she volunteered and worked at St. John the Baptist Greek Church of Anaheim. She felt blessed to be able to serve the church family that she was so honored to be a part of, and was a trusted member.
Patricia is survived by her children, her grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Trisagion will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 10am. Both services will be held at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 415 North Dale Street, Anaheim, CA 92801. Makaria will follow after. Interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA. In lieu of flowers, Patricia requested donations be made to Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church.
