Lynn DeKay Thurman, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday April 18th, 2016, in her home following a short fight with liver cancer. Lynn was born in Pasadena on June 20th, 1945 to Roy Edward and Katherine (Buchanan) DeKay. She grew up in Alhambra and attended Alhambra High School. She married Stephen Thurman on September 16th, 1967 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Steve passed away in 2003. They have 6 kids. Her family was the pride and joy of her life. These last few weeks, her eyes would light up especially when her grandkids would come to see her. She worked at Ralph's grocery store for over 20 years. She started working there in 1989 as a professional bag lady (as she liked to call herself) and worked her way up to a bookkeeper. She ended up retiring after she suffered a stroke in 2011. She also worked for Mrs. Elizabeth Calciano in her law firm for several years. She loved the ocean, the color blue, chocolate, animals, and of course, her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Daryl DeKay, and her husband, Steve. She is survived by her sister Glayde (Dean Bolander) and her children: Alex (Lori), Darcy (Jeff Jewell), David (Shauna), Spencer (Susan), Courtney (Bryan Christenen), and Shelley (Casey Paulson) and her 22 grandchildren. Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 23rd, at the LDS Chapel, 614 W Foothill Blvd in Arcadia at 10am. Viewing will be that morning 8:45-9:45. Interment is at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
