Peter
George
April 14, 1933 – March 6, 2019
Peter George was born on April 14th, 1933, in the Bronx, New York. He was the son of Panayiotis from Mytilene, Greece and Catherine from Massachusetts. Pete attended the Greek American Institute and Zoodohos Peghe Greek Orthodox Church.
Pete served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was proud that he cooked for his fellow sailors and carried over his love of cooking for his family and friends.
In 1955, he married his first wife Mary Harrides who also attended the Zoodohos Peghe Greek Orthodox Church. They had one child, daughter Constantina, who survives her father. The George family moved to Southern California and became members at St. John the Baptist Church. Pete was a member of the church for over fifty years.
He was one of the first agents for Farmers Insurance and later started his own insurance business, Peter George and Company. For over fifty years until his passing, Pete successfully helped businesses and individuals with their insurance needs.
Pete married his present wife, Janice, at St. John the Baptist Church in 1996. Jan brought a daughter, Shana, and son, Michael, to the marriage. Pete eventually became a step-grandfather to five grandchildren - Ryan, Brendan, Connor, Stacey and Kevin.
He was brother in law to Larry and Elizabeth Casteel and uncle to their children Christopher, Stacy and Andrea. Pete was an avid golfer and enjoyed meeting up with his golfing buddies on a weekly basis. He enjoyed all sports and especially loved the Lakers, the Patriots and any team his daughter and grandchildren played on. Pete was also passionate about his dogs.
Everyone who knew Pete loved his big personality and could always count on a warm smile, a laugh and a funny joke from him. He was able to help many people and was supportive of his family and friends. Pete will remain in our hearts and in our memories.
The funeral will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Anaheim, CA. Interment will follow at the Santa Ana Cemetery.
May his memory be eternal.
Arrangements under the direction of Chapman Funeral Homes - Terry Harmon, Funeral Director.
