Obituary

Petroula Paziouros died peacefully on May 29, 2016 in Los Angeles, California at the age of 90.

She is survived by her four children Christine Kades, Soula and Phil Fotopoulos, Nick and Konstantina Paziouros, Eleni and George Kalivas, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her sister Eva Giannoulis and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her husband Ioannis Paziouros, her sister Georgia Anagnostopoulos and her son-in-law John Kades.

Petroula was born on October 1, 1925 in Simiathes, Arkadia, Greece to Christos and Kalliope (Mitropoulos) Karapanos. She married Ioannis Paziouros, in 1953. In 1966, her husband Ioannis along with Christine and Soula moved to Los Angeles to lay the groundwork to eventually bring the whole family to the United States. In 1967, Ioannis tragically died leaving Petroula a widow at the age of 42. She reunited the family in 1973 when she was finally able to bring Nick and Eleni to the United States to join their sisters. She lived up to her name Petroula, which in Greek means "the rock".  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was the foundation of her family.

Petroula was a member of Saint Sophia Philoptohos. She loved cooking, baking and crocheting. She was a very generous and caring person.
