Obituary

Presvytera Clara Milatos was born on November 4, 1930 in Pinconning, Michigan to Joseph and Mary Gibala. She was the youngest of 11 children.

Presvytera Clara and Fr. Nick G. Milatos were married on October 20, 1961 and shared over 62 blessed years together.

Presvytera and Father Nick started their life together in Pasadena, California. They were blessed with 2 daughters Mary and Nicki.

Presvytera Clara loved to cook. She shared her love for cooking by always donating her time with the church and baking baklava and other sweets for friends. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and always gave of her time to the church. She loved children and they loved spending time with her as well. She loved to sew and always made beautiful Easter and Christmas dresses for her daughters. She always found beauty in everything around her and her passion was minerals, rocks, and gems. She always thought that was natures beauty.

Presvytera Clara lived in service of the church and was the Presvytera at the following communities:

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Casper, Wyoming January 31, 1967 - December 15, 1967.

Saint Dionysios, Greek Orthodox Church, Pittsburgh, California, December 1967 - October 31, 1971.

Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, Bakersfield, California, November 1, 1974 - January 9, 1980.

Holy Transfiguration, Greek Orthodox Church, Concord, California January 10, 1980 until at which time a new church was built and the named changed to Saint Demetrios, Greek Orthodox Church in Concord, where she served until June 1998.

She then served at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Long Beach, California June 1998 to 2004.

Presvytera Clara Milatos, was a devoted Wife, loving Mother, cherished Grandmother and beloved Sister and Aunt. She entered into the arms of the Lord on December 3, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband of over 62 years Father Nick G. Milatos also by her daughters Mary Wright and Nicki Heyman and, her son-in-law's, Adam Wright and Scott Heyman and her grandsons, Nick and Alex Heyman, her sister, Caroline, Skarbek, and her nieces and nephews.

Presvytera always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she spoke with. She was an angel on earth and now in heaven… she will be missed dearly.

The Trisagion was held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 and the funeral was on Friday, December 8, 2023, both at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Anaheim, California. The burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, California.
