Randall "Randy"
James Leal
October 6, 1945 – February 20, 2025
Randall James Leal, age 79, of Anaheim, California passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Randall J. Leal was born October 6, 1945 to Sebastian "Steve" Gonzalez, Jr. Leal and Eleanor Irene Leal in Robstown, Texas. They moved to the city of Maywood, California for sometime before moving to Compton, California for a better family life. Growing up, he enjoyed going to McDonalds with his brother Steven to get a 5 cent hamburger and their daily brotherly shenanigans.
As he got older, Randy attended Dominguez High School in Compton where he met his future wife, Norma Ann Townley. He attended Compton Junior College prior to enrolling into the United States Marine Corps Reserve program. He was proud of his time being in the Marines and still holds original documentation from 1965 - 1971 from his trainings and certifications. He said "once a marine, always a marine...".
Getting married to Norma in 1968 and starting a family led to him following the footsteps of his father Steve in joining the insurance industry. First he worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance as a new agent, then joining his father in his Farmers Insurance office on Paramount Blvd., in Paramount, California in 1971 and retiring in 2013. His wife Norma was the love of his life.
He enjoyed music from the sounds of the 1960s such as The Temptations, Rosie and The Originals, The Beatles, Jimi Hendricks, Janis Joplin, The Supremes, and rock n roll sounds of Elvis Presley and more. He enjoyed friends, horse racing, Dodgers baseball games, Angels baseball games, the New York Yankees. He knew MLB players statistics by the back of his hand and was in a baseball draft with his son Jeff.
He got to live a long full life after his wife Norma passed early, and later his son Jeff on January 9, 2021. He is survived by his daughters Stefanie Leal and Nicole Leal.
A funeral service for Randall was held on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park - SkyRose Chapel, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California 90601. A celebration of life followed at Cedar Creek Inn, 20 Pointe Drive, Brea, California 92821 for friends and family of Randy.
May he rest in peace out of pain and suffering.
