November 24, 1931 – January 3, 2021
Richard "Dick" Leroy Aria, 89, of Covina, California, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Kaiser Hospital in Baldwin Park, California, following a brief illness. Dick was born November 24, 1931, in Pomona, California, to Arthur C. and Mary Ann (Updike) Aria.
He graduated from Pomona High School, and enlisted in the United States army soon afterward, where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Dick was a Carpenter by trade, and owned his own business, Western Acoustics, for many years, before going to work for Ceiling Concepts. He retired from the Carpenter's Union, saying afterward that he 'loved what he did.'
Dick was an avid hunter, taking yearly trips to Colorado during deer season. He also enjoyed fishing, both deep sea and fresh water; as well as camping; dirt biking; and flying his plane.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth V. (Lewis) Aria; one grandson; his parents; brother Art Aria; and sisters, Bernice Turner and Shirley Cleveland.
He is survived by his daughters, Peggy (Art) Waner, of California, and Linda (the late Bruce) Fenstermaker, of Arizona; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. At his request, no services will be held. He will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery in California.
