Rose Marie Mackie, 91, a long-time resident of Garden Grove, California, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022. She was born on May 8, 1930, in New York state to Alfred and Agnes Rizzo. As a child, Rose moved with her family to San Diego where she attended and graduated from Coronado High School. She eventually moved to Santa Ana where she met and married her husband, Jim. They settled in Garden Grove in 1954 and raised their family there. From there, Rose worked for CalFed where she had a long career in banking as a new account counselor.

Rose enjoyed spending time at their second home in Bullhead City, Arizona where she always seemed to find extreme luck when gambling at The Riverside Resort. She loved to walk her neighborhood where everyone knew her and the family. Rose traveled the world with friends, loved to spend time with her growing family, and always seemed to have her signature Ceci pasta ready for anyone who entered her home. She lived a long, beautiful life and was loved by her family and all those who knew her.

Rose is survived by her three sons, James David (Marcy), John Alfred (Pamela Kaye), and Daniel Roe (Pamela); her 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason), Russ, Sarah, Andy (Logan), Derreck (Jessica), Kyle (Stephanie), and Breanna; her 2 step-grandchildren, Michael and Allie (Bo); her 15 great-grandchildren; her nephews, Kenneth and Wayne Rizzo; and some very special long-time friends. The family couldn't go without acknowledging Rose's amazing caregiver, Gloria Tizol, who made the last 5 years brighter and comforting. We are forever grateful.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband James "Jim" Burrell Mackie, her parents Agnes and Alfred Rizzo Sr., her brother Alfred Rizzo Jr., her sister-in-law Lesly Rizzo, and nephew Patrick Rizzo.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Saint Columban Catholic Church in Garden Grove, California. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated. www.alz.org
