Sandra Marantz Bartlett

Sandra Marantz. Bartlett, 64, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on July 23, 2013, under the care of hospice, family and friends. She was a beautiful woman with a generous and compassionate spirit who will be missed by all who loved her.

Sandy was born on October 28, 1948, in Hollywood, California to Charles E. and Yetta Swedlow Marantz. She had resided in Orange County for the last 50 years.

She was very athletic in her youth. She ran track in Junior High School; and she was a member of the swim team at Newport Harbor High School. She studied ballet and was a quick learner.

Later she became a Registered Nurse and worked in various hospitals in Orange County.

Sandy was a talented singer who sang opera and pop music and played the piano. She was also an artist throughout most of her life and shared her art by giving it to family and friends as gifts.
She was a very good cook and enjoyed entertaining small groups of family and friends over delicious meals that she had prepared. She especially enjoyed baking desserts, such as apple pie, utilizing her mother's recipes.
Sandy was fond of dogs and had several of her own that she cared for over the years. In addition, she walked dogs for the local animal shelter as well as providing them with financial support.

Sandy is survived by two brothers, Glen A. (Donna) Abdun-Nur and Ray G. (Sharon) Abdun-Nur; nieces Linda Abdun-Nur (fiancé Gregg Stein), Dr. Susan Abdun-Nur (Dr. Franco) Audia and Kelly Eastman (Richard) Overmeyer; one grand nephew and three grand nieces; special aunts, Edie Marantz Marksohn and Sandy Swedlow; and numerous cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Lynn C. Marantz; a brother, Dan L. Marantz; and her former husband, Richard H. Bartlett.

A memorial service is being held at 1:00 p.m. at Temple Beth Sholom on Sunday, September 1, 2013, in Santa Ana, California. There will be a Celebration of Life following the service.
